Meet the Team
Diego Matek, DVM
Dr. Diego Matek considers himself a New Mexico native having spent most of his life in Albuquerque. He received a Bachelor of Science with the highest honors from the University of New Mexico and followed this by graduating top ten in his class at Colorado State University becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He enjoyed working as a Fear Free small animal general practitioner for over five years with special interests in pain management, dentistry, and internal medicine.
Dr. Matek spends his off time soaking up nature on bosque and Sandia trails treks, reading, and being with family and friends. He also loves training his dogs, and the pictured healer cross, Zia, knows dozens of commands and cues. He joined the Los Suenos Veterinary Group as an ER clinician in 2022, then spent one year as the medical director of our recently opened general practice Los Ranchos, before returning to his passion in emergency medicine at Roadrunner in 2024.
